The Local Visibility System

How does MxdifyLocal get a local business found?

In short

The Local Visibility System is MxdifyLocal's program for getting a local business found on three surfaces at once: classic Google results, the map pack with Yelp and directories, and AI answer engines. It runs in seven components, from site foundation through Google Business Profile and Yelp to a monthly report that grades every commitment in plain language.

[ 01 ]Surfaces

What are the three surfaces a local buyer finds you on?

A surface is a place where someone decides who to call. There are three that matter for a local business, and they reward different things. We work all three as one program.

Surface

01

Google

Google results

Classic Google results are the ranked blue links a person sees after a search. You earn a place there with pages that load fast, answer one clear question each, and describe your services and service area in language buyers actually use.

We rebuild or restructure the site so every service and every service area has a page worth ranking, then keep the technical base clean: server-rendered HTML, correct canonicals, internal links, valid schema and a sitemap that reflects reality.

  • Service and service-area pages
  • Server-rendered HTML and Core Web Vitals
  • Internal linking and canonicals
  • Valid JSON-LD linked by @id

02

Yelp

The map pack, Yelp and directories

The map pack is the block of three local businesses Google shows above the results, drawn from Google Business Profile. Yelp and the major directories sit alongside it and feed the same identity signals. You get in by being complete, consistent and reviewed.

We build out Google Business Profile properly, optimize the Yelp listing, and correct your name, address and phone everywhere it is published so the engines stop seeing two versions of you. Then we keep categories, services, hours, photos and review handling current.

  • Google Business Profile: categories, services, service area, posts, photos
  • Yelp listing optimization and category placement
  • Citations: Houzz, Manta, Brownbook, Hotfrog and vertical directories
  • NAP consistency across site, schema and profiles

AI answer engines

AI answer engines are assistants such as ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews, Gemini and Perplexity that summarize an answer instead of listing links. You get found there by being easy to read, easy to quote and easy to verify.

We write definition-first copy under question-form headings, keep the answer in the raw server-rendered HTML, mark entities up with JSON-LD, publish llms.txt, and keep the AI crawlers allowed in robots.txt. Then we measure what those engines actually say about you.

  • Question-form headings with self-contained answers
  • Definitions before detail, in the raw HTML
  • Entity markup linked by @id
  • AI crawler access and llms.txt

What are the seven components of the system?

Each component is a defined piece of work with its own deliverables, mapped to the surface it moves. The audit tells us which ones you need.

01

Google results

Site foundation

A fast, server-rendered site that a person and a crawler both read in one pass.

Design and build or rebuild, mobile first, with above-the-fold text and schema present in the raw HTML, images sized and lazy-loaded, and layout shift held at zero.

02

Google results

Content architecture

One page per thing you want to be found for, written the way people ask for it.

A page per service, per service area and per buyer question, each with a question-form heading, an extractable summary near the top, and internal links that connect them.

03

All three

Structured data and entity markup

Machine-readable facts about who you are, what you do and where you work.

A JSON-LD graph with Organization, LocalBusiness, Service, FAQPage and BreadcrumbList nodes linked by @id, validated on every page and kept in sync with your profiles.

04

Map pack

Google Business Profile optimization

The profile the map pack is built from, filled in completely and kept current.

Primary and secondary categories, services, service area, hours, photos, products, posts and Q and A, with review requests and responses handled on a schedule.

05

Map pack

Yelp and citation consistency

The same business identity everywhere an engine might check.

Yelp listing optimization, then name, address, phone, categories and description corrected across Houzz, Manta, Brownbook, Hotfrog, Apple Business Connect, Bing Places and vertical directories.

06

AI answer engines

AI answer optimization

Content shaped so an assistant can lift a correct answer and attribute it to you.

Definition-first copy, self-contained answers, named methods the engines can cite, llms.txt and llms-full.txt, and AI crawler access confirmed in robots.txt.

07

All three

Measurement and honest reporting

A monthly report that grades what we committed to, in plain language.

The AI Visibility Score and its sub-metrics, map pack and profile activity, and site performance, normalized month over month, with each commitment graded and a written diagnosis of what moved and what did not.

[ 03 ]Reporting

What does the monthly report look like?

Component seven is the one most agencies skip. Normalized data so months can be compared, every commitment graded, and a diagnosis written in plain language. Below is the format, with the values redacted.

Commitments, graded

  • New site designed, built and kept onlineMet
  • Citations and business data across four major platformsMet
  • Google Business Profile built outMet
  • Classic Google page-1 positions heldMissed, explained

Plain-language diagnosis

AI visibility climbed from 34 in April to 53 in August, and the business moved from last among local builders in the measured set to second, within about six points of the leader. Classic Google page-1 positions resettled while the rebuilt site stabilized, and impressions held steady. Read month to month that looked like a dip. Read across the quarter, the trend is up. We put that in writing rather than leaving it out.

Real figures from one client engagement, published with permission, not a firm-wide average. The AI Visibility Score reflects presence across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Gemini for a recorded local prompt set. Competitors in the measured set are described, not named.

Questions about the system

What is The Local Visibility System?

It is MxdifyLocal's named program for local findability. It treats three surfaces as one problem: classic Google results, the map pack alongside Yelp and directories, and AI answer engines such as ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews, Gemini and Perplexity. Seven components cover site foundation, content architecture, structured data, Google Business Profile, Yelp and citations, AI answer optimization, and measurement with monthly reporting.

Why three surfaces instead of just SEO?

Because a local buyer can arrive from any of the three and they reward different things. Ranked links reward pages and speed. The map pack rewards a complete, consistent profile and reviews. AI answers reward copy an assistant can lift and verify. Working one surface and ignoring the others leaves the other two to a competitor.

Do I have to buy all seven components?

No. The system is how we think about the work, not a forced bundle. Most engagements start with the components that are weakest, which we identify in the audit before any money changes hands. We will say plainly when a component is not worth paying for yet.

How do you report on it?

Monthly, in one document. Normalized data so periods can be compared, every commitment from the prior month graded as met, partly met or missed, and a written diagnosis of what moved and what did not. Numbers that went the wrong way stay in the report.

Do you guarantee rankings or AI citations?

No. Nobody can, and anybody who does is selling you something. We commit to the work in the system, to measuring it the same way every month, and to telling you the truth about the result.
